Just a mail to some of my friends living around NYC.
Hi, there,
I've been tracking the flight record of CA 982 (JFK to Beijing) in the past couple of months, noticing very frequent delays (average 1-1.5 hours). Originally I thought it must be the poor service of Air China, until I took it on Friday. The airport has been applying extremely stringent air traffic flow management, at least over international flights. Only one track was open to ALL airplanes. The Boeing that we were taking waited in a loooooooooooooooooooong queue of big and small planes, which, excuse me, really resembled the long line outside a crowded restroom. While we took off, at least a dozen were waiting behind us for the track.
Conclusions:
A. Bring yourself some oily (and hopefully nutritious) snacks (such as nuts? Heehee) to JFK and get prepared for a relatively late dinner.
B. Leave sufficient time if you are changing flights after an international one.
PS: This is my 7th time being at JFK. I've also been to quite a few other airports before, never seeing such things. It may be I am just ignorant, but let me know if you have any idea what this can be.
